This book is the catalogue of the exhibition that took place in the Malbork Castle. It was the first exhibition in Polish museum history to present such a broad range of Persian and Indo-Persian arms and armour complemented with some rare and beautiful examples of Persian carpets. It shows the work of master craftsmen whose skill was as highly valued in their own times as it is admired and sought after by expert collectors today.There are 288 carefully selected items from state museums and private collection unknown till the exhibition. High quality photos are showing Turkish weapon such as: swords, daggers, rifles, pistols, powder-flasks, ammunition pouches, saddles, horse armour, military shield, armour, seals and many others - everything bejewelled which gives breath taking impression. Despite the military equipment, what you can find as interesting these are wonderful carpets, arrases, illustrations of clothing of the time, water-colours and paintings of places (such as Konstantynopol) or paintings commemorating particular moments of historic interest (e.g. The Battle of Vienna). Really wonderfull book. A must for those who are interested in Turkich militaria, culture and history. |

This extremely beautifully edited book (hard cover with soft cushion-like surface,) has just been published in Warsaw 2003. The author has been in study of Japanese swords for nearly 20 years. Here Henryk Socha shows us the album of 100 tsubas from Polish private collections. Hundreds of magnificent coloured and very high quality photos, which you may find as realy fascinating catalogue of this part of Japanese sword, with all its details and full description (Polish language truly doesn’t make any problem. Here you are given all the needed measurements and symbols). What is also realy interesting in this book these are attracting our attention photos of sancuaries in Japan, for example 17th c. Senso-ji (known also as Kamo-do) in Asakusa, Tokyo, as well as many others. In addition to this the album – all those beautiful pictures are completed with the origin of particular tsuba with the historical backround (+ schemes and tables).
